TD – City as Technology

The 2nd session was a 10 minute presentation by Carlo Ratti about Big Data and how municipalities can use it to be more effective. He showed models of how a city moves durring the day, traffic, heat and movement.

He told an interesting story about laptops they had at MIT which had software on it that would send data back to the lab. One of the laptops got stolen. Unfortunately (for the thief) all the data about where it was, who was using it and what they were using it for, was being sent back to Carlo’s lab.

The moral of the story is “dont steel from people at MIT”
